The President's Corner By Bud Hughes K4CWG

Space Shuttle 25th Anniversary Special Event is now history. My thanks to all club member who participated. A special thanks to John WB3JBK, Pat KA3AAG, Jose KC4VIO and Carole KC4VIN for their hard work and leadership in the execution of this enjoyable event. To Carl AA4MI we owe a big thanks for making this all happen. The Event call sign N4S was most appropriate.

As of today John KE4ZPA is still in Florida South hospital where he has undergone open-heart surgery. John is not doing well. Your prayers for our dear friend are requested.

Rob KI4DYJ has purchased a replacement repeater for the club coordinated 444.15 frequency. The new repeater and antenna is scheduled to be installed alongside the 146.91. Thanks Rob it will be nice to have a 440 repeater in operation at a more convenient location.

Lyle KI4MYT has applied to the Florida Repeater Council for a co-coordinated frequency pair on the 2 Meter Band. This repeater will be located at the Great Outdoors.

Thanks to radio class instructor Don AD4S and to Lyle for making this class possible there are new additions to this wonderful hobby called ham radio.

Our "Snowbirds" friends are beginning to sense the snow melting and have taken note of the mercury appearing higher in the tube are beginning to drift back to their real homes to the North. We will miss your smiling face but will certainly keep in touch via some means of communications.

There will be a TARC Board of Director meeting Tuesday April 18th at the Public Library. Should you have business you feel should be brought before the board feel free to come and share your thoughts.

At the board meeting this year's Fieldday event (6/24 - 6/25) will be on the agenda. At the April 25th club meeting the board's proposal will be presented to the club at which time club will approve or make changes as approved.

Hope to see you at the club meeting 4/25/2006. Bring a friend.

March Meeting Minutes By Cathy Johnson KI4GMF, Secretary

On March 28, 2006 TARC held its monthly meeting. Stephanie Phillips K4MVO spoke about a big CERT exercise which took place at BCC in Cocoa on March 25. Some of our TARC members that also belong to CERT took part. One of the big problems which arose during the exercise was communications. She also spoke about an event that was to take place on April 2- the ride for the Red. This a bicycle ride to raise funds for the American Red Cross. She said that help was needed with communications. Also on the program was John WB3JBK who spoke about N4S-NASA 4 Space which is an event commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Space Shuttle. There several opportunities to help with this event. The primary site will be at the Florida Space Authority in Cape Canaveral but any ham can take part from their home location. For more information contact Jose' KC4VIO.
