PRESIDENT'S CORNER
by Bud Hughes, K4CWG

Thanks to all who participated in the 2003 Field Day activities at the water works transfer station off Barna Ave. In my opinion we had the largest ever turn out for the evening meal. This year like the years gone by the covered dishes as provided by the ladies. I have found that it will take more than the torrential down pour to keep our club away from Field Day activities. In addition to the ladies & some gents (hello W9IOS) who furnished the nourishments there were other activities that contributed to one of the most enjoyable outings.
This year TARC was given permission by Bob to use his call W4TAT. In addition to the several hours required to setup their stations Bob W4TAT and John KE4ZPA operated their stations the entire 24-hour duration. On site during Field Day we had members on 2, 6 and Joe KD4GPF setup and operated PSK 31. Overall the rain accompanied by the thunder and lightening did have an impact on our total contacts but nothing could impede the enthusiasm and attendance.
The club is grateful to the city of Titusville for authorizing the use of city owned facilities for this annual EOC training. Thanks to BEARS for the use of COMM I. To Bob W4TAT for permitting not only the use of his call but also for him furnishing his trailer, radio gear and antenna(s). Don K1DRA brought his RV

and via his icemaker in the RV furnished a continued supply of ice. Although Coach Canfield W4RUN could not be with us he furnished the big coolers, gator aide, ice. Paul, K4WPW as he did last year furnished two picnic tables that sure came in handy especially with the huge crowd.
I know I am omitting giving thanks and credit to so many of those who contributed so much to our FD event but make no mistake your club and friends appreciate your participation.
Hope to see you at the Club meeting Tuesday July 22nd. Bring a friend

and supports. If anyone needs more info on this please contact me direct and I will explain further.
I can't stress enough, we need
ALL amateurs to attend the next 2 hearings and now would be a good time to start calling and emailing your commissioners. Email and call them and politely ask them to support the exemption for amateurs. They must receive constant attention to the issue if we are going to be successful at the next two hearings. We can lay back on explaining what the amateurs do for the community as the commissioners are well aware, but we can prepare for any opposition that may arise and we can show this is what we the people want!
Please take note the county has reversed its position on fighting for the inclusion of CB, GMRS and Land Mobile but please be prepared to challenge the issue should it arise at the next hearing.
Also, after receiving all records relating to this matter under the sunshine law public information act, I noticed many of my emails were forwarded to the county and its employees by sources inside the amateur community. These emails are intended for amateurs only and we need to protect our strategies and communications. The county will not share its strategies with us and so we need to keep our communications between us only.
Thanks again and see you on July 22nd!  Bob, W4TAT

  TIME TO RALLY AGAIN!
By Bob Keim, W4TAT

Just a note to remind you all of the upcoming hearing in relation to the Antenna Exemption request. A tentative date of July 22nd has been scheduled and exact date and time will be coming soon.
The county LPA in the last hearing recommended approval of the exemption for amateurs to the Board of County Commissioners and recommended removing CB, GMRS and the Land Mobile Services. These three services were added based on an opinion and recommendation by Eric Conklin a county employee.
The need to keep these other services out of the exemption based on the legal standings is a key issue in gaining and keeping an exemption for amateur antennas
